One option for management of capital gains or losses is the 1031 exchange. Under Section 1031 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, it is possible to exchange certain types of property for "like kind" property and defer any capital gains or losses that may be due otherwise. This is a fairly complicated matter, with which we are very familiar.
